The Central Catholic High School Wrestling Program exists to help every student-athlete reach the highest level of their potential—athletically, academically, and personally. Our mission is to develop successful wrestlers, outstanding students, and young leaders who are prepared to excel in competition, in the classroom, and throughout their lives.

As part of a college preparatory institution known for academic excellence, our wrestling program embraces the same commitment to discipline, accountability, and long-term growth that defines the Central Catholic experience. We believe that success on the mat and success in the classroom go hand in hand, and we challenge our athletes to pursue both with equal dedication. Our goal is to help wrestlers compete at the highest levels of California wrestling while maintaining the academic standards necessary to succeed beyond high school.

Athletically, we strive to build a program capable of sustained excellence year after year. Through structured training, quality coaching, and a culture of commitment, we prepare athletes to compete for league, section, and state-level success. Our objective is to help every wrestler maximize their abilities and pursue opportunities to qualify for and place at the California State Wrestling Championships—the highest level of high school wrestling competition in the state.

The paths our athletes take to achieve their goals vary. Many wrestlers begin their journey through the Central Catholic Youth Wrestling Program and continue developing their skills throughout high school. Some athletes train and compete year-round, dedicating themselves fully to the sport, while others successfully balance wrestling with participation in multiple sports and activities. Regardless of an athlete’s level of commitment or experience, our coaching staff is dedicated to providing the guidance, resources, and opportunities necessary for each individual to achieve success.

For those seeking additional opportunities for development, many of our athletes continue their training during the offseason through the Central California Regional Training Center. As RTC-eligible athletes, they have the opportunity to train alongside advanced wrestlers from throughout the region, gaining valuable experience and exposure to higher levels of competition. While participation at this level is not required, the culture within our program often inspires athletes to discover a deeper commitment to their personal growth and the pursuit of excellence.

Beyond competitive achievements, we are committed to developing individuals of strong character. Wrestling teaches perseverance, resilience, responsibility, leadership, and the ability to overcome adversity—qualities that extend far beyond the mat. Our coaching staff works to create an environment where athletes are challenged to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally while learning the value of hard work, teamwork, and integrity.

At Central Catholic, wrestling is more than a sport—it is a vehicle for personal development and lifelong success. Whether an athlete’s goal is to become a state qualifier, a state medalist, a collegiate wrestler, or simply the best version of themselves, our commitment remains the same: to provide the support, culture, and opportunities necessary for every student-athlete to realize their full potential.

Together, we are building more than successful wrestling teams. We are building scholars, competitors, leaders, and young men prepared to make a positive impact in their families, communities, and future endeavors.
